ALL ABOUT MIKEY PHILLIPS
Past. Present. Future.
I call myself a serial entrepreneur who's a multi-instrumentalist. My work includes live and studio drumming, music production, sound recording and mixing for recording artists and sound mixing for films. My 15 year career has afforded me experiences ranging from being in the studio with A-list artists to traveling around the world, playing live music.
Born and raised in Miami, FL, my interest in music began at 4 years of age, when my parents enrolled me in classical piano lessons. Through the years, I’d play the guitar, saxophone, baritone and ultimately land on the drums. As an early teen, being interested in multiple genres of music such as jazz, gospel, R&B, Hip Hop and Latin, I began trying my hand at music composition. I made a name for myself in my network for creativity and my approach to composition.
After graduating high school, I earned a degree in Recording Arts from Full Sail University in Winter Park, FL. This, along with intense curiosity in music business, led me to move to Atlanta, Ga where I began a professional career. Starting as an intern and ending up as the Musical Director for Janelle Monae, my path was an incredible journey. The list of my work includes artists such as Big Boi of Outkast, Swae Lee/Rae Sremmurd, Tayla Parx, Jojo, Omarion/B2K, K. Michelle, Brandy, Lil Jon, TLC, Joey Badass, and many more.
My most recent accomplishment is being the Audio Editor and Additional Musical Programmer for the upcoming Bryson Tiller Trapsoul World Series Livestream on March 18, 2021. If you're interested in watching, please click the link on my homepage.
Being a lover of all thing creative, I am dedicated to pushing boundaries in music, and will continue to leave my mark wherever I go.
